Julia Jaye Posin

Julia Jaye Posin holds a BA in Anthropology and Environmental Systems & Societies from UCLA. She is the 2019 Eco Star Awards honoree, and received commendations from both the United States House of Representatives Rep. Ted Lieu, and the County of Los Angeles Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, acknowledging her outstanding impact in public service for environmental activism.
In January 1018, Julia co-founded Steel Straw with Max, to whom she's happily engaged, a social-good company with the mission of reducing single-use plastics in our oceans and communities by providing consumers sustainable products which both 1) serve as a reusable replacements to plastic, and 2) demonstrate the consumer’s desire to “be the change”.
Julia previously served as Campaign Manager to Pat Harris, a progressive Democratic candidate for C.A. U.S. Senate in 2018. The campaign was dedicated to mitigating climate change, enacting Medicare for All, getting corporate money out of politics, and instituting criminal justice reform.
Julia has a decade of experience producing environmental justice events and campaigns around the world. Additionally, she organizes environment-focused community events in Los Angeles, and guest lectures at area colleges including UCLA, Otis College of Art and Design, and Santa Monica College.
Julia currently serves as a Vice President of the Historic Cultural Neighborhood Council which covers Los Angeles’ Arts District and Little Tokyo areas, and as board member on both Pacific Palisades Democratic Club, and South Central Farm.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Max Goldberg is a proud co-founder of Steel Straw. He graduated from Emerson College in Boston, MA, where he studied entrepreneurship.
Max is an unapologetic Lord of the Rings fan, and hates running marathons but does them anyway.
Max has a long professional trajectory in digital advertising, having directed large teams at ad agencies, brands, and progressive political campaigns before launching Steel Straw with co-founder Julia Posin. He excitedly put a ring on it in 2018 and now Julia and Max are both happily engaged to be married.
